The kind that raises goosebumps when no one else is in the room. Welcome to the season of spirits, eerie whispers, and those strange, late-night sounds that leave you wide awake, wondering if you’re *really* alone. If that sounds like your kind of thrill, keep reading—we’re counting down the four most haunted hotels in America.

Omni Parker House – Boston, MA

At number four, we have the Omni Parker House in Boston, a 169-year-old hotel with a guest who checked in and never really left. Harvey Parker, the hotel’s original owner, was a hands-on host, obsessed with every detail of his establishment. So much so that some say he’s still making the rounds.

Take it from the mother and daughter who were startled when a man asked them if they were enjoying their stay—only to realize the next morning that the man they spoke to was Harvey Parker himself, whose portrait now hangs in the hotel. Don’t worry, though—he’s friendly. But not every place on this list can say the same.

La Fonda on the Plaza – Sante Fe, NM

Coming in at number three is La Fonda on the Plaza, a century-old gem in Santa Fe. With its long history, it’s no surprise that some guests have checked in permanently.

There’s Judge John P. Slough, still roaming the lobby in his long, black coat, spurs clinking on the tile. Then there’s *The Bride*, a ghostly figure seen in her wedding dress. Staff are so used to these ghostly encounters that they’re almost unfazed. Some even claim the spirits call employees by name. Mischievous? Sometimes. Downright terrifying? Maybe not… at least most of the time.

The Menger Hotel – San Antonio, TX

Next, at number two, we head to San Antonio’s Menger Hotel. Built in 1857 on the original grounds of the Alamo, this hotel is said to host over 30 spirits, many of whom seem to enjoy rearranging furniture in the middle of the night. The most famous ghost, though, is Sallie White, a maid who died after being shot by her husband. She found refuge in the hotel and still lingers there today.

Guests often report seeing her in her old uniform before she vanishes into thin air. And, if you’re lucky (or unlucky), you might spot the ghost of Theodore Roosevelt in the Menger Bar, where he once recruited the Rough Riders. Still sipping his favorite drink, still larger than life—even in the afterlife.

The Stanley Hotel – Estes Park, CO

Finally, the granddaddy of haunted hotels: The Stanley in Estes Park. If this place feels familiar, it’s because it inspired Stephen King’s *The Shining.* Yeah, that one. This property’s been featured on OvernightMare on Peacock and hosts an annual costume ball around Halloween.

Built in 1911, it’s been the scene of more than one spooky encounter. Room 217 is where a gas explosion nearly killed a maid named Elizabeth Wilson. She survived but apparently stuck around. Guests report her as being helpful, straightening up their room during their stay. Mr. Stanley and his wife are also seen wandering the halls, adding to the eerie charm. But not all the spirits here are so… considerate.

In room 407, visitors wake up feeling like someone is sitting on the bed next to them. Room 428? Let’s just say, you might not want to open your eyes to find a cowboy staring at you from the corner of the room. And then there’s room 401—haunted by a male spirit with *particular* tastes, making it a truly unsettling stay for the women who’ve encountered him.

These rooms come with a price—if you dare to book them.

Cultural Immersion Isn’t Just History

Listening to ghost stories is one thing, but living them?
